Default LED Turn Signal Upgrade

my 2010 atomic blue insight is such a great car, but to go along with the new blue HID's I installed, i really want the turn signals to be upgraded as well. I figured since the car already had LED mirror turn signals, the upgrade would be a sinch. I was wrong. apparently the turn signals and hazards and mirror signals are all on different circuits. I want to change out the flasher relay to one that is LED compatible. Where did they put the flasher relay cluster? Has anyone else done this type of upgrade? Thanks for your help.

Wish I could help. HID's and LED's are next up on my list. Welcome to the Forum! Tons of great info.

I'm at the same place you are, just put in 6000k HID's look great, still a little bluer then I wsnted, but they look good. Put in my new rear led turns, license plate and side markers, I knew I was going to need to either replace the flasher relay or add load resistors, but I decided to go the flasher relay route. Turned the turn signal on so o could hear the flasher relay to help me find it. I was expecting it to be tight next to the fuse box. Come to find out it sounds like it is practically in the center console behind the climate control.... :/ need to dig in a little further to find it still, but pretty sure its up there. Let me know if you find exactly where it is. But I will be looking after work so ill post if I find it. Anyone know what relay is recomended for the led flasher?

I've heard a couple of different stories now, is there any chance it would be under the hood? There are some relays and fuses there, but I've got no documentation. Just a thought.
Problem is, I guess even if we find the flasher/blinker relay, it's entirely possible that there is not an LED compatible on the market. Without the layout of the plug array, I can't even venture a guess on what after market product would do the trick.

If you turn you blinker on, the clicking you here is the flasher relay from what i understand. Which to me really sounds like it is in the staring collumn now. But im not sure, unless I am mistaken.

this whole turn signal/flasher thing is really bugging me. I have not come to a conclusion and wonder if anyone out there has changed out their incans to LEDs? The insight already has LED flashers in the mirrors which operate with the turn signal and the 4-way, somehow there is a separate "by-pass" circuit for the incandescent turn signals.....? go figure. It's also frustrating to have LED, brake lights and tail lights, but not the turn signals....thanks to those of you who have posted here, hopefully there's a mechanic or someone who can help us. Haven't heard much from this post so wanted to keep it alive. would be great to hear from you!

yesterday, i tore the cowling off the steering column and really got behind the clicking noise......it's not in the steering column! sounds more like behind the instrument cluster.....damn I'm baffled, what's the big secret here?

Sounds like you're in the market for a shop manual before you begin to forget where screws go when you're re-assembling stuff.

What are turn signals? Do people really use those anymore?
