Default Be careful, the front end on this car is low!

First off I’ve owned lowered cars in the past, I owned a lowered ’93 Integra at one point, a lowered Toyota mini truck, then an ’02 VW Jetta etc.. I never scrapped, scuffed or hit the front end on anything as I was always careful. Well today after owning our Insight for seven months I pulled up to far at a parking space and scrapped the damn front bumper.

Uggggg! I forgot how low the front is on this car, I pulled up thought I was ok, aligned my car with the two on each side and then screech.. I got out and looked and my bumper was against the concrete and the two rubber deflectors hanging off the car.

I’m not so mad at Honda as I am of the people that dictate the height of theses concrete curbs where a simple stock Insight can inflict all sorts of damage to the bumper if you accidentally pull up to far. I think the real issue is my two year-old was in the back whinning all day today, my normal daily drivers are a 2011 Subaru Outback 8" of ground clearance and my work truck a 2011 Ford Ranger about the same as the Outback where I don't really think about the height of the front end when I drive those vehicles.

The first ding is the worst ding!

Sorry to hear it and I know where you're coming from.

I'm still kick myself for coming too close to the curb and scraping one of the wheels....

Ouch, yeah, not a good feeling. I generally park 3 ft from the curb, but I have dragged on driveways that are steep. I got to take them at an extreme angle if not get one wheel up on the curb, then drive off it slowly.

I lost my splats when I got stuck in some plowed up snow n ice.

I don't even know how many times I've scratched the underneith of the front of my car...and I've only had it for 2 months!

I park in steep driveways sometimes and I always forget that I need to take it easy when I'm backing out. It gets me every time!

At least it scratches underneith the car and not anywhere visable though.

I drove an '01 Civic before this and the bumper would always get stuck on curbs when parking in stalls. I would cringe every time I felt my bumper hit and had to slowwwwley move the car in reverse while hoping it wasn't going to pop off!
