I approach 25mph, BOING, excessive speed I am knocked out of it again. I managed to maintain it starying under 25mph with light pressure on the gas. Within a mile or so I am knocked out again, something about low battery status. WTF?!?!?!? It took forevar for the battery to build up a charge after that to reengage the mode.

I just dont understand the people who come on here and say the prius is the best thing since sliced bread and the owner who drive them do not smell when they use the bathroom as the ev mode is superior to the insight. Well, I came, I saw and I was not impressed. It seems there are quite a few conditions that need to be met and maintained to stay in that mode, like with the insight.

Now I can enter, maintain ev mode on the i2, travel almost a mile and at any speed.
It's a pretty well known fact the 3rd gen EV mode button/switch is pretty much a joke - I've never even used, nor do I pop it into eco mode which makes the pedal lame.

I pretty much roll a 3rd gen from stop on battery then let engine join in. At least it's hella smooth.

I still think the 3rd Pri is a little wanky - interior seating, ergo adjustments need work (Edmunds agrees), crappy plastic wheelcovers up to level IV, kinda fugly wheels underneath, softish ride, docile steering. I couldn't do a V. Needs some style and refinement.

I2 needs some size and more power for me.

Are you saying the I2 can pull itself in EV for a mile ???? Can I2 pull itself through a parking lot in EV?? (maybe I'll test drive one again).

In my 2nd gen, I would cop EV as high as 41 MPH, but was tough to maintain. One time I made it about a mile, all EV with stops and starts, but that was very rare.

You better hope there's no headwind!

I can get in EV mode in the Insight and keep it there, but I lose speed very quickly and there is little purpose to it. Seems to work best on a level or downhill road at around 25 mph when the battery indicator is "full".
