Even though it will be many months before the first oil change for my soon to arrive base 2011, I thought it would be good to have some oil on hand since I don't have anything in the 0w20 weight and when I will need it I don't want to have to order it. But I noticed that there are 2 types:
Which are you folks recommending or using in your vehicles if you are using Honda oil. I have decided to use Honda oils only for this vehicle. I know about Amzoil, Mobil 1, Redline, etc. but I think I want to stay factory on this car. The full synthetic seems a no brainer, but I haven't heard much about it. Is anyone using it?
I started off using the Honda oil for hybrids, then moved to mobile 1 when they have discounts I buy it for a future oil change.
I may change my mind and go Mobile 1. I have used it in the past. I haven't seen 0w20 on sale around here much at all. My Walmart doesn't carry it except in quarts and ditto for the auto parts stores. Seems high priced. But this is the first time I have seen the Honda synthetic and was wondering if anyone had used it.
Our walmart sells it in the 5 qt jug for 25 bucks. Not a bad deal, just remember to only add 3 1/2 to 4.
I have been buying it at advance auto when they have the oil change special. Ive even gottten a "free" mobile filter too. Havent seen any difference when its done for changing. When the extended warranty is over, I am going to shoe horn in the biggest filter I can find.
When I first placed an online order for parts for my Honda, I ordered a 6 pack of filters they had on sale and use those and buy my oil locally.
Just last week an Orelieys opened up and had a radio station there. I won a gift card for 25 bucks and got 4 quarts of mobile 0w20 oil for a buck in change.
At Ollies I have seen quaker state 0w20 for 2.99 a qt.

I think either of the Honda oils would work fine. Personally, I'd go Mobil 1 just because I know it well. Today's oils and engines are much better than when I was being taught old school theories.
If you constantly look through all of the auto parts ads, you can catch Mobil 1 0W20 on sale every now and then. I buy it whenever it's on sale and usually have about 5 gallons on the shelf.
Furthermore, since I do NOT know CVTs very well, I would only go with Honda CVT fluid in my CVT. Watch for it being on sale too and you can probably find it on the cheap before you reach 12,000 miles.
Mobil1 is always a good choice, but honestly, in modern engines with modern lubricants, it truly does not matter much what oil you use, as long as it's not used veggie oil.
