I use to own a blown tacoma and know the feeling, however I am not the outdoors person. I just live in a home in a remote area half the time.

FYI, you can get a hitch and cargo rack for the i2.

Before I purchased the Insight I found the hitch and cargo rack and that is what I was planning.

After the Insight purchase I spent quite a bit of time reviewing the kit, instructions and manufactures recommendations for both the hitch and the cargo carrier.

The carrier company actually recommends that you secure the carrier with straps to the trunk area when using the carrier and I just did not like that.

I think the trade in value bubble on these cars may have burst.

The dealer had my car orginally listed for 21,500 and I have been watching them slowly drop the price. They are now down to 17,995 - that is a true $1300 less than they gave me for it as a trade. (Trade value was not inflated).

I kind of feel bad for them.

Naw, the trade in value hasn't dropped. According to Honda's website the residual value is within a couple % points of the Prius.

Prices will be adjusted accordingly with gas prices, IMO.

Gas has gone down quite a bit lately. Still too damn high, but nonetheless.

It's not a good time in the model year for trade in value either. Today's one year old car will be two years old very soon.

I think there's some truth to that.

Gas here in LA is still high and it's gone up about 10 cents in the last week. The cheapest place by my house is $3.87.

Maybe this is why I see at least 3 to 7 Insights per day driving the streets.

Wouldn't that make it a great time to turn in a car? Before it's another year older? That's why I'm seriously thinking about the upgrade to a 2012 Insight.

It's a good time to buy, but not a good time to trade. You will be negotiating a deal by trading in a one year old car. In less than a month, if that car is still on the dealers lot, it will be a 2 year old car. That is why a dealer will be stingy with trade in values.

It never hurts to try. If you can find a good deal, nail it down.
