back in the 80's (holy flashback, batman!), I used to build hotrods ... one of my first was a '69 mach 1 that i drove around with no hood ... it was a pig with holes in the floorboard and I would nearly pass out from CO at traffic lights, but what a rip to drive ... somehow a hoodless I2 doesn't have the same cachet

Ok, its not for better mpg, it was for convience. I had the paint split where it was repaired from the accident I had and cant do a day without my car.

They removed the hood to repaint it and bake it without worry about the batteries over heating in my car, then later that day reinstall the hood.
