Comments on Insight II vs. 3rd Gen Prius
Hello everyone. First off, I owned a 2nd Gen Prius for over 2 years, sold in January and bought a 2011 Accord Coupe 4 cylinder. I loved the fuel economy of the Prius, but I dreaded how awkward it was to sit and drive in that car.
I just stopped by a Honda dealer for the heck of it and took another sit in a 2011 Insight. I test drove one for kicks back in February. I'll tell ya, Honda gets it in terms of ergonomics and driver seating. It just works and it feels good.
I had a rental 2011 Prius recently, and I really did not like driving that one either. I am tall, 6'2". That floating bridge console in Prius really gets in the way. Somehow the seating makes it feel like a cross between a minivan and a car. Yuck. Sure, it got like 55 MPG all day and it's practical, but to me, annoying.
I'd love to see the Insight get a little bigger in subsequent generations. I guess they'd have to go to a full hybrid to keep the MPG while making it larger. If they did make it a little larger, that would be cool.
anyrate, for now the Accord Coupe is great. Drives really nice like a car should. I get about 28 MPG combined and it can get about 35 MPG on highway. I gotta stick with Honda and their sense of style and driving experience. Plus, Honda is cool and they make motorcycles which I love and have ridden many miles on.
Keep representing those Insights. They are cool looking cars!
