Cant help but notice its been kind of slow around here lately. Dont let me hold you guys back, I got a lot going on over here. My fathers death, sale of his 4 bedroom home, taking care of his estate, our belongings from the past 25 years that was in the house, taking care of my mother, dealing with detox, work and getting my car finalize from the accident. All of the belongings where more or less thrown in 2 storage sheds, so I have been going through them, sorting out trash, keep, sell and donate.
To make matters worse, all major roads in Richmond have construction of some type going on, so its impossible to get a good run for measuring mpg. Then lots of my driving is moving to the city streets, stop n go, near an army base and rush hour. Breaking 60mpg in stop n go ought to still be considered a record.

I'm with you Cobb... posting got slow on the I2 sections (myself well included...). Reading, but not posting much... Maybe we have gone around all the basics of the I2 for now. For a 1 1/2 year, we have questioned all the little things here and there about the car, but maybe there is not much more for now. Nobody has battery issues yet (that we know of...), which is a good sign. No codes thrown that we need to brainstorm about.
The MIMA I2 project is one the ice since long time for good reasons (CAN deciphering), but even there, it seems to me the control over the IMA is quite easy through monitoring the pressure on the accel pedal. So not even sure if MIMA would have the same benefits it has on the I1.
Mike has been very busy on the charger, mostly for I1 & HCH. May be when he is done, it would be time to look at the I2 harness. I might offer to drive to CT for him to use my car as development platform. But this will be next spring at best...
The main thing for now seems to be tire replacements. First owners of I2s with normal commutes, who purchased the car when it came out in 2009, are within range of tire replacement. SO big question about which are the best. But other than that, not much problems.
Or we need to find some new interesting mods for our car
Interesting..... Yeah, that is an important project. Grid charging/ balancing was my gateway to getting a phev kit. Balancing didnt help mpg, but did overall drivability. The debate between him and Ron is an interesting read about to or not to, performance and lifespan.
Ive offered to do what I can, but its a long drive to Mike. Currently I am on a leave and I dont have much extra money. Since I have a phev kit, I can charge my pack and do a full pull and I can drain the pack to cause a negative recall on demand.
Id love to do more research on the ELD, but I cant find my scanguage. From what I can tell and a crz owner when its on or the charging system is at 14 volts you can dump a lot of amps and volts into the pack without generating a code. Infact you can easily blow the 5000 watt converter of the enginer kit maxing out the settings before a code is thrown. At least 22 amps 122 volts.
Since I have a battery pack and bms controlling it Ive wondered if I could get someone like Peter to make me an IMA controller to power up the IMA motor when I wanted to without throwing a code. I would hook this in parallel to the existing leads from the brain box in the car and use it when I wanted more assist. This would be preset or presettable to a limit and I would just use an off/on switch as if it was a nos kit.
Ive also wanted to go the angel eyes, but I need some down time to take the lamps off the car, bake them, install the rings, rebake then install back on car.
Not sure about what other aero mods, but I would like to follow a diy on spike tvs power block to make a fiberglass hood. Next would be the hatch, both to save weight.
Currently I have a condo and no where to work on my car. Then I am still cleaning up the disaster from my accident back in august. Nothing seeing your car in a puddle of another fluid.

The problem is our Insights are driving so well there's nothing to complain about on the boards I've been busy but really nothing to say about the car it's doing it's job getting me place to place at 45,000 miles getting the same or better gas mileage... Love it, need to get a car wash though!
Lurking. Mine has seen a big drop in fuel economy for short trips due to cold weather, but long trips are almost the same. It's unfortunate that nobody praises a faithful workhorse for doing its job.
i used to be here a lot
but skool and work have kept me away from here
we need to start doing more things to our I2's
like custom mods, turbos, or make it run on water
idk
i want to buy some vinyl paper from ebay and put it on my roof
itd look really nice!! or would it??
my car is all black and red but im not sure how itd look with a black roof
I think if you have a tango red pearl model the black trim and accessories make a good match. If your car is hot in the summer, this black vinyl will make it worse. It will give a fake moon roof appearance to it.
I got a guy whowants to try his hand at air brushing. I am considering him do a mural on the side doors of my car in a light white that makes you take a second look at it. Ive roughly sketched out what I wanted there and on the hood.
The newer crimson tide red has more of a black cherry look to it.

This upsets me a bit... my Insight has developed a rattle in the back. It actually sounds like the glass is rattling on the back window/hatch. It bugs me because I had a 93 Accord that lasted forever and never had any rattles. I also had a 98 CRV that I gave to my son and it has no rattles. It has 180,000 miles on it.
I don't think there is anything I can do to get rid of the rattle.
