Default What RPM does Insight spin at 65 MPH?

Hello, I don't own an Insight II, but I've test driven a couple times on city streets. Can someone tell me what RPM your car spins on a flat road at 65 MPH?

I just want to get a feel for how the car is 'geared'. Doesn't have to be exact, just like 2800 or 3000 or whatever.

Thanks in advance.

i do about 2200rpm ... BUT and this is a big but ... the insight is one of the most variable cars i have ever drive re engine revs ... there is so much variability via gas, season, temps, humidity, inclines, eco mode, S or D tranny selection, road surface, etc. ... the saving grace is a motor that is extremely flexible and happy (although it can be somewhat buzzy above 4k) at virtually any rpm ... honda really did a good job with the selection and lightening of components on the bottom end of the motor

Hey, thanks for that. I've definitely got my eye on the Insight. I came back to the Honda brand in January with an Accord Coupe and I just like Honda's approach to cars ... and motorcycles too!

Yeah, since its a cvt it can be all over the place. I typically see 1700 rpms at 56mph. Unless you are in sport mode it doesnt turn a lot of rpms like some economy cars do. If I remember right you can easily do 70 and it will stay below 3 grand. I think 80mph is right in the 3000 rpm area and anyother over 100 is going to cost you 4.5 grand or so.

Thanks, that sounds reasonable.

On another note, I've looked at some of the leftover reviews from Consumer Reports about Insight. CR is a pain. They reviewed the Insight II when it first came out. I don't think they've tested it again. They seem to copy the review in 2009 and slap it in a 2012 new car review magazine where they still don't recommend Insight. Sort of irritating. I don't put all my chips in with Consumer Reports. They're ok, but they miss some details.
