My only problem is that the regen or braking effort when no gas is applied is all over the place. Sometimes just lifting from the throttle you peg the regen meter with max regen braking, other times you just see it dip into the area and you need to apply enough pressure to the brake petal to activate the brake lights to peg the regen meter and get max braking from the IMA system. Then, other times I find I need to depress the brake petal pass the part where the brake lights come on to peg the regen meter.
Furthermore I have found that by watching the SOC screen it seems the IMA battery charges visibility faster when you press the - petal to rev the engine up while riding the brakes to active the brake lights to get the most regen while slowing down.
With the prius 3 the car just rolls when no petals are pressed. Then you got an inch or so of travel of the brake petal to achieve max regen before the braking system is applied. I managed 65mpg with it when I used the brakes in that manner and stuck to school zones with 25mph limits to use EV mode.
