Default What does the underside of the car look like?

I think someone on here posted photos a while back, but I wasn't having any luck finding them with the search.

Anyway, I have had a very unfortunate month. While driving on the highway, a pickup in front of me had a bunch of crap fall out of it, which I promptly ran over. So, I brought it in the the dealership to make sure I didn't do anything serious that would warrant an insurance claim. So they said it was OK. Then, I think maybe it was the same week, I was a complete idiot, and in the dark did not see the curb in front of me as I was leaving a parking space. So up and down I went! Damn itttttt.

So when I had the car in for an oil change today, I mentioned it had just recently been in because I had ran crap over. So when the service guy handed back my keys, he was like everything looks good, except you know about the scratches under the car, right? And I just said "yes" but now I'm wondering if the scratches are from the curbing not the running crap over. I know I have scratches that I can see on the underside of the front bumper, but do you think I scraped up stuff further back? It was a quick up and down the curb, and I never got stuck...

I'm just curious what is actually there underneath the car. Maybe I should just stick my camera under and snap away.

You can always get on the ground and take a look ... it isn't that close to the ground. The camera idea works too I guess.

But basically, there's just a plastic underbelly pan the length of the car.

There's not a lot of interesting things to see. Just the pan.

It can come off in sections so that people can actually get to the guts of the car.

I'm guessing that guy noticed some pretty wild scratches on the plastic.

BTW I ran over a concrete median in a parking garage once with my friends in the car. All I could see from the drivers seat was open parking lot. I forgot about the median by the time I returned to the car, and didn't see and take note of it as I got back in the car.

Well, my old 84 Accord was "grounded." I had to tell my friends to get out so I could drive the rest of the way over.

Funny thing was I ended up on the employee side of the parking garage of a shopping mall. I got to the gate where you have to swipe your card to exit. I had to press the buzzer and explain to someone over the radio how I managed to get on the employee side. Thankfully, they let me out w/o making a big fuss about it.

I wouldn't worry, the high voltage cable is tucked up under the car. Mines is plenty scratched up.
