Thanks for adding your experience. I do agree with you that the Insights ride quality is still far from Luxury; even with wider tires. Also like you said, the Insight isn't going to be a super handler without other suspension changes. That being said, I still describe my personal experience as being a monumental improvement. For me, tire noise has been cut drastically and handling and ride quality greatly improved.

Bottom line, I enjoy driving my insight MUCH more with my tire size/choice.

Default Update 2/18/12

It seems that after upping my tire pressure to 36psi I can say with confidence that I suffered zero MPG losses going with this wider, much quieter and more confortable touring tire.

Funny how you now hear more body noise because the new tires a quieter. After the Dynamat , now I hear a lot more tire noise! May look into tires come spring.

Yeah, do your self a favor and get rid of those Dunlops. Honda even stopped using them on the 2012's.

Tracking mileage precisely is at best difficult for me since I almost never have the same commute - traffic differs, temperature differs, how I drive differs... Perhaps someone with a steadier commute can do better comparisons ...

At about 36-38psi the ride is more comfortable, more quiet, and more composed with my Michelins. Fuel consumption so far seems similar to the Dunlops too - I'm hovering arond the 45mpg mark on the display, just like I did with the Dunlops at 40+ psi.

However, driving the Dunlops at 44psi was actually less bumpy than riding the Michelins at 44psi. This I attribute to 2 factors. First, the sidewall on the Dunlops has got to have been softer, thus absorbing a bit more bumps. And they were lighter than the bigger (and newer/more rubber), so they would be better controlled by the shock absorbers...

At any rate, I brought the pressure down to 36psi or so and I intend to keep it there - fuel economy is about the same or just a little off compared to the 40+psi Dunlops but the ride is better...

Default Update 3/4/12

Everything is still great with these tires and fuel economy. As a matter of fact, I'm getting the best MPG ever. There are no downsides to this tire size and choice.

I'm gonna be ordering these tires soon.

Maybe today if I get around to it.

Then I'll take them over to Wally World and have them mounted for $50 bucks.

When you do decide to get new tires, if your Dunlops aren't too badly worn, sell them on Craigslist. I got $130.00 for mine and they sold right away.

I wouldn't be able to sell those POS's if I tried.

When they came off for my Blizzak's each one had worn differently.
