I do not see it advertised, but the first series of the newer insight had voice control with the nav option. You can tell it to turn on the climate control, adjust it, control the radio in addition to blue tooth and steering wheel controls.
Nice to have confirmation that the heated side mirrors are worth it! I've never had either heated or self-dimming mirrors, so that would be a welcome change!

Will heated seats and/or dual-zone climate controls be on future Insights if the model survives?

It depends on what you are looking for. Many things can be added from the aftermarket too. I got my honda for mpg and needed a hatch back as I did not look at the civic hybrid.

I want the base model, but my mother talked the sales person into selling me the next up as it came with alloy wheels, trac, 6 speakers, cruse control, etc.

The auto feature of the climate control would be great if it was truely automatic vs mixing heater with ac if you select any temp other than Lo.

The heated mirrors are linked to the defroster and they will clear up in a minute or less. The rear window defroster is quite slow.

I had a mercedes with dual zones and it just gave me an extra knob to twist to set the temp for heat or air. When I had passengers it seemed the floor option was really the only way to give the passenger different temp than the driver.

One of my future mods is to rig up a relay to the ac clutch and tie that into the brake light so when I tap the brakes it will allow the ac clutch to engage help further save fuel. Further more I may mod a small fridge that Ive seen made into a mini ac unit for a house boat to supplement the ac using power from my phev kit or ima system.

I thought his articles were well written and enjoyed the fact that their perspective was from the average driver's point of view. One thing I've noticed regarding Insight 2 reviews is that when the car was initially launched, many of the reviews were favorable. It was after the Insight did not do as well as Honda had hoped in the marketplace that a slew of (bandwagon?) negative reviews were written.

Regarding the navigation unit, I agree it is expensive for what it is but the EX-Nav trim on the 2012 now includes a back-up camera so that is part of the price. Mind if I ask which trim you are considering? I am leaning toward the LX, myself. Cheers!
alam99, the writer responded to me today and said, "Uh-oh, that's not good. I'll get that fixed this week. Thank you for letting me know!" So, hoping it will be fixed this week!
