The paddle shifters also work in D as well as Sport. It's kind of semi-automatic rather than manual. It only holds the gear until the car is cruising again then it goes back to CVT automatically.

In S the gears hold until you would otherwise stall or hit the rev limiter. In those cases it will still change up or down automatically.

Oh, interesting, Uriel. Thanks!

I drive in D mode pretty much exclusively, and I love the feature where I can hold down the paddle to get that better gearing ratio. And, yes, after the burst, it's back to normal. Pretty nifty!

3 > 4 40 mph (64 km/h)
4 > 5 45 mph (72 km/h)
5 > 6 50 mph (81 km/h)
6 > 7 55 mph (89 km/h)
Just re-read my UK manual. Maybe it's written differently for a country where just under 90% of drivers learned on a manual transmission car.

Minimum shift up and maximum shift down speeds are given.

Code:
Upshifts:
1 > 2 Over 8 mph
2 > 3 Over 11 mph
3 > 4 Over 15 mph
4 > 5 Over 19 mph
5 > 6 Over 24 mph
6 > 7 Over 29 mph

Downshifts:
2 > 1 Under 28 mph
3 > 2 Under 41 mph
4 > 3 Under 56 mph
5 > 4 Under 73 mph
6 > 5 Under 93 mph
7 > 6 Under 116 mph
So basically - you can upshift from first to second anywhere between 8 and 28 mph (and so-on). It's up to you.

I cant speak for your country, but ours has some really stupid people in it. Many car thieves will not touch stick shift cars as they cant drive them. There was a block of stolen cars, but the stick shifts were left.

I worked in the premiere banking part of the bank and I was shocked at how many people in the NorthEast where a lot of our decisions are made and their intelligence level.

Heh... I pretty much watch the revs in making my decision on when to shift. And by watching the revs, I mean listen to the engine.
