Default Spark Plugs

I guess I'm going to be the first to tackle a spark plug change on a 2010 Insight. My car is currently at 104,000 miles and I got the "B14" maintenance minder. I don't plan on getting ripped off by the dealer to change 8 plugs (just found out it was 2 per cylinder) so I'm going to do this myself. I've done it many times on other 4cyl or 8cyl cars so I imagine its going to be fairly straight forward. We'll see how easy the rear plugs are to get to.

Does the I2 use indexed plugs like the I1 does?

It uses 8 NGK dilfr6f11g plugs. Honda is proud of them at $21 each. I've found them for $14.65 but that's still pricey. I might look to see if there is a cheaper equivalent.

I believe they are indexed, meaning the location of the tip is special to the shape of the combustion chamber. Just undo the coil, then insert socket, insert extension, then attach rachett and reverse order to remove them. Id like to go a degree cooler as it seems the engine uses less timming when the car approaches 190 degrees. The sweet spot seems to be 180.

Sent from my Autoguide iPod touch appId like to try either a marine or tri plug like I had in my blown tacoma. Those plugs were like 20 bucks each too. Congrads on such a achievement.

I found an Autolite equivalent to the NGK Iridium plug that Honda uses. They are $6 each instead of $14-20. Going to give those a shot and see how it does.

Is the auto lite a basic plug? You may only get 30 thousand miles from it vs 100k.

Manufacturing Iridium type plugs is the choice now of most plug manufacturers, including Autolite.
It's all due to fuel injection, the new ignition electronics, especially the coil on plug systems.
(My opinion)

$21.00 x 8= $168.00 = HEART ATTACK.

Not looking forward to doing mine... HCH1 $13.50 * 8 = $108!
