Thumbs up Wagan 12-Volt Heated Seat Cushion Review

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0041RV1D8/ref=pe_175190_21431760_cs_sce_dp_1[/url]

I bought this from Amazon and have been using it for 2 weeks. I wanted to give it a few weeks before I posted a review. It has 3 settings on the switch, high, off and Low. According to the paperwork that came with it, on high it draws 46 watts and 36 watts on low. The Insights 12v power supply is rated for 100 watts. Within 30 seconds you feel heat and within a minute you feel warm. I haven't had to use the heat at all since I got it and I use the low setting. It's only 20 bucks and decently constructed. It seems to minimize the effects of winter on MPG because of not having to draw heat from the motor to warm the cabin. What's good about our Insights is power is cut to the 12 volt outlet when your done driving;so you don't even have to mess with the switch. The switch is the only weak link I can see in the construction. It's nice to have virtually instant heat and saving fuel at the same time. The heat produced is just as good as the heated seats in my girlfriends fathers 65K Dollar BMW.

Before getting the Heated seat cover, I thought about getting one of those 12 Volt auto heaters but they draw 100-150 watts and suck in their performance.

As a former wheelchair user I used those in the winter to help with staying warm. They did not use much power and also helped with back pain.

The seat is still going strong and I haven't used the heat hardly at all since I got my car back. Thanks to it, the winter impact on MPG has been very minimal. Basically I just jump in the car, immediately take off and within 30 seconds I feel heat warming my back. This is one of the best 20 bucks I've spent. I highly recommend it.

Looks like Amazon has them on sale for 15 bucks. I may get another one.

Ive been tempted to try the one with the blower in it to help cool you. Thats the main feature I miss from the recaro ds seats I had in my tacoma.

THey had a heater, blower, gortex liner and of course 2 air bladders for back support, etc, etc, etc

Beats me. I searched online for a seat cooler and found one that had a vent you pt near the floor that sucked in air and blew it through the seat. I think ebay has a few heater and cooler pads you can insert into an oem seat.

A cooler pad. Now if they manufacture something like that that runs on less than 100 watts, that would be worth getting. Not having to use the AC often would really help summer fuel economy.

I bought one of the Wagan cushions a few wks ago and it has stopped working. The red light on the plug is on, but no heat from the cushion. There's no inline fuse in this this thing is there?
