Opinions on HU

I am getting tired of my sony single din radio and want to add a back up camera. I dont want to spend a grand or even 500 bucks on a single or double din hu with a folding screen for that or watching dvd.

As a former NASCAR fan I attended the Funi races and it was explained to us that they make all the electronics for vhs and dvd players then the final distributor put their name on the outside of it.

So, thinking of that I was thinking about this radio from ebay, item 180735269283

I see it listed by quite a few members for within 30 bucks of each other. Its almost cheap enough to give it a try.

Nice but the problem with touchscreen is you have to look at it and take your eyes off the road. I don't know why they bother with CDs anymore. SD, USB and aux connection are more than enough.

Oh no, I wont be using the touch screen or watching dvds while driving. It comes with a remote control and I currently use the ones for both my hd and sony hu.

Its almost cheap enough to take the risk and use ebays warranty if its pure crap and doesnt live up to the advertisement.

I have net flix and will use that during my break/lunch to entertain myself. Then use the screen for a rear view camera.

I am ok with cds, however its interesting we didnt go the next step to a flash drive vs disk. I had a blue ray player and after a year or so of countless netflix it quit playing them, but plays dvds ok. Interesting....

I went a head and sent a message to the seller on ebay to ask him point blank. Ill report what he says. He offers a 12 month warranty.

The seller wrote back. Said its made by ouku a company in China that makes a lot of electronics. I see some favorable reviews about the tablet and droid phones, but nothing on the car radios or head units.

If my "new" to me suzuki sidekick doesn't cost me a grand in general maintenance I may get one.

The seller referred me to lightin thebox.com as another seller of ouku electronics.

I see they have an HD double din hu with tv, dvd, dual zone gps, blue tooth, am/fm, remote, rear view camera, all the jacks, bells and whistles for a littler over 200 bucks.

Its really hard to say no at this point. I may get the 3 inch single din for my suzuki and the double din for my I2.

After a few weeks of a whole lot of nothing, I had the chance to make an offer. I offered 75 bucks as it was listed for 94. He came back with an 89 and free shipping. I took it. Ebay item 180735269283

I think this will go into my suzuki as its current harness and antenna is traditional and pretty straight forward.

I depend on my radio for entertainment and focus while driving and hate to have to learn something new on the road. This way I can fool with it, get to know it and still be an upgrade to the existing radio. My suzuki currently has a panasonic that only plays regular cds, no mp3s, has purple and pink lighting and a remote control. My dad purchased it from crutch field sight un seen.
