Signs I should go ahead with the purchase? Are the Honda gods talking to me?
Maybe Honda is monitoring your postings and is deliberately putting I2's in your path.

Hi pjaymac:

It seems that you have spent a good bit of time looking into the Insight, and it's obvious that you're a thorough researcher (sometimes I wonder if you aren't working for Road and Track or one of the other auto magazines). All I can tell you is that the car is an excellent value.... there is only one thing that I'm still trying to deal with, but even that wouldn't deter me from buying another. That one item would be the hard to describe "grabby" transmission. It only bothers me on cold morning starts... once the car warms up, it isn't too bad.

Bottom line: it's a relatively cheap (in price only) vehicle, and if you purchase one and find out it doesn't meet your expectations you can dump it and get something else. If you're looking for a good commuter car, you'll not do too much better. Hope you are happy with whatever decision you make!

LOL! That must be it! That's the only logical explanation.

Thanks very much, dieselnine! You're very kind. I don't work for Road and Track or another car magazine, though maybe I should!

Glad to know you think it's an excellent value.

Grabby transmission, eh? OK, thanks. Nice that it diminishes when the engine warms up. I've never had a CVT car, so I can't speak to your experience. I can't say I noticed a grabby sensation on my test drives, but they weren't all that long.

You're right, of course, that I could dump it and get something else if I didn't like it. But I'd rather not make the leap unless I was sure, given that I use my car just recreationally, not for commuting.

Thanks very much for responding to my posts and letting me know what your experience with the Insight has been! It's invaluable. Very glad you are a satisfied Honda customer!

I thought maybe pjay was working for Toyota with all the questions and repeat questions. Consumer research, etc.

Then it finally dawned on me that pjay is the ultimate tire kicker.

Heh-heh. I've kicked a lot of tires in my day, it's true. I've bought way too many cars for my own good. As I'm getting older, though, I'm starting to wonder if I should be conserving money for whatever retirement I might be able to have rather than buying wheels I don't really need. Hence, the questions

The more I drive my Insight, the more I'm loving it. The feedback about my driving is enchanting. Unlike Facebook or Microsoft that try to force me into changes, the Insight is making suggestions to help me change, and forgives me every time I may stray. It's a friendly little car, and I discovered I can haul a LOT of stuff in the cargo area.
