Happy with the Insight, but....

I wonder if they will be offering a manual transmission. If they do it might very well be time to trade in the Insight. At the very least I will take a test drive.

The I2's styling still wins, hands-down IMO.

Yep, a few people at PriusChat.com have noted today that the Prius C might well cause Honda to kill the Insight. I'll be curious to test drive the C, at least.

The Prius has been around for 10 years now and always been a CVT, I'm guessing it is a pretty good bet there will be no manual transmission.

Don't think it has any bearing on the insight. A Honda Civic Hatchback Hybrid might do it though. If such a thing existed and came with Manual transmission I'd be in the trade in queue.

Yawn..... Its smaller inside and out, smaller motor and less mpg, sounds like a Win-Win situation. Where do I sign up? I always wanted a smaller hybrid with less cargo space a smaller motor and less fuel economy, Boo f--ing Hoo.

LESS MPG? I think you mean more. Honda seriously needs a redesign of the hybrid system in the Insight... ford just released the new fusion design... a larger car that's rated 47 city/44 highway. It's pretty damning evidence how badly outdated the IMA system is that it gets poorer mileage in the city than the highway. That's the pattern of a gasser, not a hybrid.

I mean, the '12 Fusion is a 3700lb car! The newest Civic hybrid gets 44/44 for a a car weighing 900lbs less. The Insight weighs almost 1000lbs less than that.

Don't even get me started on the CRZ... 35/39 for a two seater? It seems like they should be able to manage that without the hybrid trappings at all for a car with barely over 100hp on tap.

Wasnt the prius 2 rated at 60mpg? Hell, the Geo Metro xfi and original Insight was rated at that.

Yeah, the IMA thing is rather old, so is the Prius Synergy drive. The main difference is the Prius was available in Japan only where as the IMA was in the US.

Yeah, the crz should of come with forced induction and the Insights suspension. I mean, come on, a 16 valve, cross flow head, what else are you going to do with that setup?
