Compared to my GMC Safari "mini" van which glides forever, the Insight slows down pretty fast because of the regen. If you touch the brake pedal, but don't press, she slows down even faster because of more regen. I don't use the physical brakes that much because of the regen braking. If you want mpg, no braking and just touch the gas pedal to use the ev to coast forever. It does use the battery and will need to be regen'd.

Thats what I do, roll down.I seldom give any pressure other than to light up the brake lights and cause the regen to kick in.
