Default Capture device needed for odb2 port and conversation with HIM/HDS

Ive decided to bite the bullet and try to further advance the second generation of the Insights and hope the info can help with the CRZ if not the HCHs. Unlike the powers that be, I am not as resourceful or intelligent when it comes to technology. I will say that I grinned ear to ear today as it was in the 70s and driving along 288 at 56mph I was reading 86mpg on the mid as an average for a trip I made to hopewell.

Granted once upon a time I wrote a batch file in dos 3.2 to work with the rs232c port on my pc to log when the ready to send or receive was opened or closed and the time to a motion detector.

This allowed me to monitor a room or part of a room to see when someone went in and how long and when they left. I havent done stuff like that since dos 3.2.

So I have ordered a Chinese cloan from ebay and should have it in a few weeks. It seems from previous owners of the first gen insight that it has a short service life. I would hope someone could send me a device and I will record it full of data.

I hope to be able to also tweek the engine settings, VTEC, ignition, fuel, shift points, etc.

Maybe we can even get data for making xguage codes for the sg2 if not commands to turn the blower on, change amount of assist, regen, etc. One can dream cant he?

Maybe someone can make a C&C like guage for an ipod, droid, etc? I just ask I get one for free in exchange for the data. I am a fast learner, but I suck at soldering and electronics.

If you are local to RIchmond, VA I do not mind meeting at star bucks and frequently do so at the Parham Rd exit 83b every Saturday to meet another member here.

I thought somebody started a thread last year about the g2 can bus or something like that. I think even Mike D was in on it somehow. Was I dreaming? I was waiting to see how similar the signal was to the g1. I thought maybe whatever came out of that could be applied to our accord hybrid.

You weren't dreaming.

Honda CRZ IMACAN Data Capture

ODBII Interface

Not all relevant but I had a look.

Until someone in UK lends me a car for a few weeks that's as far as my input can go.

Yeah...... Um, I spoke to Mike DB2K earlier this year as I had started a new job and was going to arrange my vacation to spend a few weeks at his home so he can pick my i2 for a new MIMA system.

He said the CAN version of MIMA would take too much research for the returns and had scrapped that project. He wasnt even sure it could be done by the ODB2 port and may end up in the IPU unit.

I had asked you and Eli if you would be interested in helping or mailing a capture device and I would record the data for you. Your reply was for me to get someone in the UK to visit you so you can use their car for the project., If it was that simple I would of done so, but I just do not know that many people. Eli told me to contact you.

Oh well, I heard the same response about the grid charger and it was a few weeks later that I had one. I also have a phev kit and averaging 70mpg. Its just a few weeks before I have my own C&C and MIMA for the i2.

I agree with Mike I doubt MIma for I2 or CRZ can be done from OBDPORT. That would def require splicing into the wiring loom.

I suspect the OBDIIC&C could work though.

My capture and analysis setup and procedure is an adhoc collection of instruments inc the hds, netbook, salealogic probe, osiloscope and my special device which only exists in my head for the theory and as a very heath robinson setup on a delicate bread board. It is not user friendly or postable at all and requires constant updates to it's software according to data gathered by the device. On my recent HCH1 data gathering days I was writing and or editing software sat in the car and flashing it to make it work with the civic as the basic data started to come in. It's completely impracticable to send it anywhere and then even less to expect it to work without my personal tlc and operation. I'm sorry if that's not what you want to hear but I work hard enough for the community as it is. If someone brings a crz or I2 to me in the UK of which there are thousands, I will look at the data/problem for the benefit of the wider community I can't say fairer than that.
