Perhaps this would be of some interest to more people if you posted in the IČ section...

I had to decide between a Fit or my I2. I knew I was gonna get one of them, just didn't know which.
I went for the I2 for several different reasons.
But just this morning there was a Fit parked by my I2. I'm glad I ponied up the extra dough for the I2 by looks alone. There's definitely no contest on that front.
I didn't choose the I2 for any 'hybrid' stuff at all. I'm probably a minority here, I'm sure of it. The I2 gets driven about 100 miles daily and pretty much pays for itself versus our Odyssey. It's sorta like having a free car, just not exactly free.
It got bought over the Fit because: Refinement was better, projectors, looks better, wife doesn't drive stick and the CVT makes the auto of the Fit seems like some archaic ancient technology in comparison, and the most important thing for last ... wife who initially wanted a Fit, after driving both, said it was no contest. She hated, really loathed the idea of a Fit afterward. I had all sorts of fun with that one, suggesting we get the Fit instead.

A few years ago, my wife needed a new car. I wanted to get her the I2, she wanted the Fit. I let her decide (since it was for her) but really tried to push her to the I2. She decided on the Fit primarily because it "fit" her better, had much better visibility, had more space, and came with a manual transmission. I believe it also saved $4-5 K since their were no deals to be had on the brand new I2 in limited supply. I couldn't convince her that she would make up the difference anytime soon with the increased fuel economy, so... we have a Fit in the garage. I have to say, that I have really grown to like and admire that car. It does everything quite well, and is actually pretty fun to drive. PLUS, she has averaged a little over 40mpg over the 40,000 miles driven. I don't know what she would be getting if she had an I2 instead, but I didn't use that high of an mpg to try to justify the purchase of an I2. I think she made the right choice (economically) between the two. And I really hate being wrong.

Heck, truth be told, our I2 is probably getting about the same MPG as your Fit.
Then again, it's damn hard keeping my wife under 80 MPH. I can almost nail 50 MPG on her route to where she works ... and that's at 70 with cruise control on. lol

I have a G1 Insight but have taken about 3 test drives in the G2 Insight. I really like it and think it has potential to get great gas milage. I have not driven a Fit yet so not sure I can make a comparision. I'm sure the Fit is a good car so won't knock it, but I really liked the new Insight.
