Default 5-7 miles before the heat starts to rolling?

I am tempted to replace the t stat in my i2. This mild winter it takes almost 6 miles before the heat starts to really come out of the hvac system and at least 3 miles before the cold engine light goes out.

Interestingly enough I run a full grill block and even use duct tape to seal up any cracks. I cant use ev mode til its up to temp.

Then once I travel 15 miles or so I start to approach 200 degrees, thats with the heater on.

That's messed up.

I get maybe a mile and warm air starts to come out of the vents.

I let it sit there idle and within 2 minutes my windows are starting to clear up.

I find the heat impressive in the I2.

Simple question ... you have optimum radiator fluid in your radiator? It takes a lot longer for heat to begin if you are low on radiator fluid.

I suspect you're fine on fluid, just wondering.

If all else fails, perhaps your blocking mods are actually a detriment to the heating ability of your I2. Only one way to find out.

.
Same here. My Insight has always warmed up within a few miles. IIRC, the body shop the repaired Cobbs Insight installed an undersized radiator. Also he has mentioned problems(broken/missing impellers) with his water pump.

Sounds like screwing #17 by the body shop.

Yeah it's a shame although you'd think a smaller radiator would allow the vehicle to heat up faster in winter. I suspect the faulty water pump has more to do with it.

Cobb, honestly I'd sue. I'm the last person that would advocate suing someone because I detest lawyers and lawsuits but in this case you have every right. Your shop and insurance company has screwed you 7 ways from Sunday.

Sounds like thermostat. It looks really easy to do. Why not?

He could change the thermostat at the same time he changes his water pump.

A water pump that isn't pumping wouldn't cause those symptoms.

What if some of the parts from the impellers got logged in the t stat? Cobb said impeller parts were circulating in the coolant system.

Takes about half a mile at minus 5°C for the temperature to start blasting out on full for me.
