Default It's really an EX now

A curve, snow and a telephone pole marked the end of our beloved sky-blue 2010 EX.
I was able to drive home, so I (and the body shop) thought it could be repaired, but the cost was too much for our insurance company.
Their settlement was quite fair, and with it, we were able to get a 2012 EX in Milano red/black interior. Why did Honda quit sky blue?
Many things are the same - dash and controls are familiar.
Leather covered wheel and shifter are nice, as is a bluetooth link for your phone.
Driver's seat is more comfortable (for me, anyway) and steering is way more stable.
Bridgestone tires are an improvement over Dunlops the 10 was wearing.
I never thought the 10 was particularly noisy, bit the 12 is quieter. You just don't hear road, wind and engine noise as much. Also, transmission isn't as jerky.
Gas mileage seems to have improved, at least according to the MID. Auto-stop engages a lot more now.
I'm hoping oil changes will be easier than the 10 with it's bizarre pan cover, and will report later on that.
Very glad to see Insight has been improved. Long may it continue!

Glad to hear you are ok. Interesting you had a drivable accident, but it ended up totaled.

Yeah, glad that you are ok. That's the most important thing.

Like Cobb said, it is surprising that your Insight was totaled and still drivable.

Did your airbags deploy?

You liked your Insight enough to buy another one. Nice. I'm not sure that I would, but then again I'm not sure I wouldn't.

How. Much did the 12 end up costing, if I may ask.

Thanks for your consideration!
Maybe I should have said "was able to get home"
Yes, the driver air bag went off, but I can't have been doing much more than 25. T-poles are rather immovable.
Right front was pretty mangled. It involved the strut, and maybe the engine cradle.
They would have had to take out the dash and windshield to repair.
Estimate was over 12K when the insurance folks pulled the plug.
The new one was 20,700 - not far from what we paid for the 10.

12k+ means by the time they were done it would have been 14k+ in damages. I see why they called it a total loss. I recently had a wreck and the damages ended up being 10,300 and they fixed it. I have low miles. How many miles did you have on yours? Also if you don't mind me asking, how much did the ins company pay you for the total loss?

It had a bit north of 52K, and was in good shape, otherwise.
They gave us a little over 15,500. I doubt if I would have received that on a trade.

Wow, my Honda is worth more wrapped around a tree?

Sounds like they treated you fairly.
