I am the new owner of an 2011 insight ex navi black in color, wanted a high mpg car and hope this will perform as claimed.
We currently have 300 miles on the car and the driving expierence is slow and boring, I guess that part is performing as expected i really don't like the feel of a cvt transmission and wish this car was available as a manual trans, with that said the car is comfortable and optioned nicely, dash layout is better than the prius and is comfortable to drive
it will take time to adjust to driving this car, the car in my avatar is the one i traded in for it
1) You grow to like the I2 more.
2) The loss of HP is going to result in you trading it back in.
I am in it for the long haul, I will like not filling up as often and can usually find a way to enjoy any car I own, b4 the bmw I had a jetta tdi with a 5 speed loved that car just not the problems I had with it. looked at another tdi but thought the insight would be more reliable
At first I really hated the CVT as well - even coming from an automatic, much less a manual transmission. That said, I've grown accustomed to it and now when I'm in either of my brothers' cars (both automatics), it just feels ... "clunky" and weird.
If the (sometimes) quirky auto-stop and performance start to grate on you a little, and you don't mind wasting a little gas, just turn off Econ. Also, since you have an EX, if necessary, you can put it in "Sport mode" - I think the manual refers to it as "Secondary" (S on the gear selector) and, hey presto! you almost have a regular car
