sadly no more. I bought a 2013 mazda cx5 instead.
wouldve loved to get an i2 but need the 2000lbs towing capacity on my cx5.
broken wrist on passenger side, nothing else.
Another one bites the dust...... Glad it was any worse, looks like the car held up well, no broke glass at all.
Yeah, my credit is shot, so my next car is going to have to be used if not make my sidekick my new primary vehicle for a while. No way I could afford another i2, also no mo trade ins like I had before either.
insurance gave me 17K for the insight which was good. i also got another 9K from my total replacement cost coverage insurance ($5-$8 a year for 3 years - best deal ever). i put in another 3K out of pocket which allowed me to buy the Mazda CX5 for 29K including taxes. i need to put in $2500 after a year to get the mazda 7 year auto bumper to bumper like i had on the i2.
Thats a good question. When I got new tires I felt I was targeted for a few weeks with lots of near misses. Mostly people merging as if I am not there as well as those who see a hybrid, then go to pass just to discover the car in front is going the same speed.
I just started to go on the offense. Swerving seems to make people second guess their willingness to pass you.
I don't know what it is but I've had more cars almost change lanes into me in the one week that I've had the insight than all of the last year combined! I'm enjoying the puny honk of it oh so much
Gotta be on your A game driving an Insight. I had a guy zip up to me then position himself so I am in his right blind spot. I am in the right lane, he is in center. I am taking the exit coming up and everyone is slowing up, this guy suddenly whips in front of me, then whips over to the 2nd exit lane to the right of me. No sooner he goes to change lanes the second time the 3 cars in front of him swerve over with him. I immediately gunn it and zip ahead 3 car spaces to the rear of the next car inline as the road does an S turn. The guy ends up behind me again as the other lane was too slow for him.
Thats why acceleration from 50-70 is important to me as well as the ability to take corners and why I would spend thousands on suspension parts for a hybrid.
I'm appalled at these threads too and I've noticed quite a lot of aggressive drivers passing me lately, and I usually drive over the speed limit. What is it with people getting all riled up about my car? I blame its awesome spaceship looks, some drivers get super jealous and feel the need to pass me from all sides.

Yeah, it is. I dont let it piss me off too bad as in many cases there is someone down the road a few car lengths to cut them off, etc. See the thread I made about a pissed off Tundra owner.
I was driving my sidekick aggressively one day and I had a guy swerve into my lane in front of me, then he swerved right back into the pane he was previously in. I wanted if seeing a black streak behind him had anything to do with it?
Another thing I like is being in the center lane. Then watching people from the left and right lane go to cut you off and crash into each other in front of you.
I agree, people seem to underestimate the hybrid. General consensus seems to be that if you are in a hybrid (especially the hybrid form factor such as the prius or insight) then you are probably a slow hyper milling driver. And that gives other drivers the 'license' to cut you off regardless of the fact you are faster or the same speed as them.
In certain driving situations, the paddle shifters (when engaged in the 'auto' driving mode) help to give a bit of a boost to avoid potential hazards.
As for the Insight, I love it (and that coming from someone who owned a 320hp car prior to my I2). After my 2010 I2 got totaled, I went and got the 2012 I2. I'm confident in its driving ability and from the various threads here, although the I2 is taking up quite a bashing, it is definitely a safe car.
