Part of why I want to change out the brakes is for looks, I am not a fan of the rear drum look. It should costs only about $1000 to get the job done with new parts, then some wheels and tires which will be another $1000 and my last $2000 going into the Mugen kit. By the end of the year I should also have suspension work done, exhaust, and some vinyl wrap on a couple area's. It will look really good by the time it is done. Some time next year I will work on some new speakers and getting the CR-Z seats in it.

All European spec Insight 2s except the SE and HE base models have rear disc brakes.

You can get a mugen kit for 2 grand, you would be better off to resell it. I checked and each part was a grand each, then one for the wing and 500 for the grill. None of these pieces were painted, that was another 700 bucks from a body shop.

I had an interest in all the parts, the front and rear bumper pieces, the side pieces, wing and grill. I wanted the additional lights that went on the front bumper too.

I just painted my drums black last time I rotated the tires.

I have a friend who does auto body painting so I am getting all the parts in primer for $1989 shipped. I am going to get them installed and the paint color matched to the car. It helps that I know people who live in Japan, I lived there from 2002-2005, and I can use my companies shipping discount to ship UPS/FEDEX/DHL.

Do you think you could get me part numbers? It would make a swap super easy.

Well the more I look into things the way more expensive and complex the rear disk conversion becomes. It does look like I would need a whole new rear assembly with the right mounts for disk brakes. If I could ever get in touch with Sunny I would be able for find out how he made the 5 lug swap work.

There is good news though...the car is tinted! And it looks good.

Default Tint

I agree: the tint looks really good, especially on that white. Sharp car.
