Default Another gen1 Insight owner

Now that I've got 500 miles in on my new (to me) first-gen Insight, thought I should stop by and introduce myself. A few weeks ago I bought a 2000 Honda Insight MT with 206,000 miles. I was looking for something economical, fun-to-drive, and unique, and this car fits the bill perfectly. Oh, and I like tinkering with cars, and I'm sure a car of this age will provide plenty of repair and upgrade opportunities.

Turns out this car is no stranger to these forums, being previously owned by jnachbar, and sporting a rebuilt battery and other parts from Ron. I've also connected with another Insight owner at my office. I'm quickly turning into an enthusiast.

Another Insight owner in the area, good to see you here. I also 'imported' my Insight from Wisconsin. It bothered me driving it across the state with no license plate but apparently in Wisconsin a driver can transfer their license plate to another car. Wasn't sure if I was going to get pulled over or not without anything but a signed title and bill of sale in the car with me but I didn't.

Mine was an ID car and I had it shipped in from an Acura dealership in Portland, OR. It has been serving me well for several years now here in snowy MN.

(Mine is blue, by the way.)

Congrats on the purchase. I live in WA state and bought a Civic Hybrid in CT a few years ago. I took my Mazda plates with me and hoped I didn't get stopped. Last july I took my Civic plates with me to FL and drove them home on my "new" 2000 Insight. I guess I like to live dangerously. Here on the west coast, plates stay with cars. I figured I'd just plead ignorance or tell them I thought thats the way it was supposed to be done. I've been told in the past that you actually have to purchase a trip permit in each state.

I bought my car from a new owner that decided it wasn't for him. I've wondered if the prior owner might have spent some time here and the car actually have a history on this site. I wish I could figure out a way to research that.
