Default 2011 Insight Stolen - Miami, Florida

My one-month old 2011 Insight was stolen last week at the Dadeland North MetroRail Station. Security camera shows individual walking up to car and opening it with a key. Car has not been recovered.

The key was out of our possession twice: at the dealer, Brickell Honda, and on one occasion at the Baptist Hospital (Kendall Drive) valet service.

Word of advice: keep key in your possession, always, and install a LoJack!: mad:

In 2003 I had my Kia Sportage stolen from the same location! And I got hit hard by State Farm and did not have GAP insurance. Being in a Kia (at the time) I should have had GAP coverage! Now I just buy Hondas instead of worrying about that. I also had a 1999 brand new Mitsubishi Gallant stolen down the road just outside of Sunset Place. It was recovered almost a month later on Christmas eve in Hialeah!

I was born and raised in the Bronx NY and never had a car stolen (just tires, batteries, seats, stereos etc..). At least in Miami they take the whole thing! Lol!

7 years in Coral Springs and ZERO incidents, thats a good sign I guess?

Anyway sorry about your loss! Good luck!

Sorry to hear that. Can you post the VIN and give us a description about the car?

I hate valet and insist on parking my own car. I was of the assumption the key is hard to copy and even if you got the door open, you need the chip in the key to start it.

Hope they find it or who did it.

Welcome aboard.

Hi,
It is also necessary to install a security system in your vehicle to make it safe from robbers....
Thanks

Anything distinguising about your stolen car? I always keep an eye out for other Insights. Though it sounds like pros if they had a key. If it was pros then it won't be driving down US1 any time soon. Usually new cars are stolen for their value as a whole car. Older cars are stolen for their chop up value. I can't imaginge there is a market for I2 parts yet.

Does Honda offer gap coverage for their leases? I was told it's automatically included in the price.

Don't sweat it. It's just a car. As long as you have the appropriate coverages, you should be ok.
