Interesting. They are out of business now but I'm sure I could go to the store and still find their products as I figure grocery stores probably wouldn't have a run on them that would clear them out that fast.

Thats a good example of the hard facts of running a business. I started for a company at an ok wage, then got tons of over time, gift cards, promotions, raises, bonuses, profit sharing, catered food and more gift cards. Lets not forget all the benefits including a bonus paid to your 401k, 401k matching, insurance for everything.

Then all the extras started to go away, no mo gift cards, no mo catered food, no mo over time, (((no more promiotions with a pay increase ))), no more free insurances for everything, reduce, then no profit sharing, no more 401k bonus, little to no comission, etc, etc, etc.

Hell, I got a raise, then was promoted to day shift, no more shift differential and no more over time. The raise was less than the shift diff, so I was now making less money than working nights without the raise.

Oh well, at least I have a job.

Did Hostess make a single healthy product? Not that I'm aware of. Maybe Hostess' bankruptcy is a sign that Americans are finally cutting back on junk food. Naw, I don't see much evidence of that.

Actually I'm pretty sure that's exactly what happened.

Everything started going healthier and they just kept making the same products (which are basically sugar+lard with different artificial colorings/flavorings) and never even once tried to field something healthier.

I've seen plenty of grousing blaming it on unions. How about the fact that they were making the exact same product from the 60s unchanged, even a little bit?

Hostess was a dinosaur, and like the dinosaurs, it went extinct.

Isn't there a Twinkie-like substitute from a different company?
