So why does OP seem to think this forum's security was breached when there are thousands like it all over the world. And what highly sensitive information do you think is stored here? Certainly not your SS# or and credit card numbers. And if you are so worried about online identity fraud, I assume you didn't use your real name or date of birth to register. I got that message in my spam folder and just deleted like any other message I don't need. Don't need no tinfoil hat for me.

The OP is able to create a unique email address for every forum that he joins. The spam was sent to the email address that he used only to register for this forum which suggests that the email address list for this forum has been hacked.

I'm not concerned about the loss of sensitive information. I just don't want my email address to be sold to all sorts of spammers. I don't enjoy wasting my time deleting lots of spam.

Back in the mid 90s when I joined the internet and AOL I was advised to use the multiple screen names for an activity. One for professional such as resume. One for chat rooms, one for newsletters, etc.

That's insane. How does one keep track of all of them? I must have over 200 forums in my favorites list that I'm registered on.

In gmail, all you have to do to have a unique username for every registration is add +whatever... it still comes to you, but you can see it's to that unique username.

So if your username is bobjohnisawesome6969@gmail.com, then you register for insightcentral, you just give them as your email addy:

bobjohnisawesome6969+insightcentral@gmail.com

Voila! It comes to you and you know who leaked it.

I too have been getting emails sent to my insightcentral address. I have created separate emails for every site I sign up for to see what sites get breached or sell my info.

Here is the header of one of the emails I received just now. My info has been censored to help prevent more spam.

Get a gmail account, let it automatically appear in your spam folder, and relax. It's the internet. Who gives a crap if you're getting spam? None of us are stupid enough to send money to Nigeria. Gmail's filters are SO good I never have to worry about it anyway.
