Interesting I wasnt promoted to a new role, like the past 3 times. They said I was eldgible for rehire and to apply for other openings in the same building.
I called my manager since he comes in 2 hours after me and asked if I could use him as a reference. He said I could, but he would be joining me in a few hours.
Ive applied for sveral jobs in the same building and at other companies in the surrounding areas.
Been busy online applying for jobs, updating stuff and catching up with my co workers. Turns out everyone including managers got the boot. Ive had a few friends tell me to not sign for the severance. In the grand scheme of things it isnt that much.
I got a few more websites and companies to go, Ive already called a few former bosses to see if they need any help. Maybe I am showing my age, but some of these sites takes me 2 hours by time I update my basic info, resume, education, work experience, what I am looking for, references, etc, etc, etc.
My co workers think I am crazy and that I should just relax, take a break and enjoy the time off, then apply for unemployment after that.

And that is why your co-workers will spend 18 months out of work when they lose their jobs and you will spend 18 days out of work (I hope). You have the right thinking on getting on the hunt right away, the sooner you get interviews the better you look. Last time I was laid off it was right after lunch, by 2pm I had an updated resume and by 4pm I had an interview scheduled. All it took was emailing my contacts that I was out of work and looking. Best of luck to you, sorry I don't know anyone in VA that could help. All my buddies out there are Navy guys and half of them have less then a year before they are forced out.
Thanks. Its a bit of a up hill battle. The managers were also let go, so references is an issue. Ive been in contact with the unit manager and ask about references, letters of recommendation, etc.
I was assured my stuff in my desk would be mailed to me, which includes certificates, emails of praise and recognition, however they werent. I got a box of half my larger items and called. She just said she was sorry she had to throw the rest out. I explained I had stuff in my other draws. Sure enough that was there, but it was just 4 items that made it home to me and those were shipped in a toilet paper box. I almost feel a youtube video is in order, just got to read the terms of my severance of what I can and cant do.
Man, I must of had 20 bucks in open coffee grounds, another 15 bucks in bubble gum and lots of snacks. I nibbled during the day while drinking coffee and chewing gum. Id say 50 bucks may cover what is missing food wise. I also had countless awards, progress reports and references that I no longer have.
Working for the office and ceo of the president of bank of america home loans carries a lot of weight, but I just have my co workers to use as references. I also made about 20 bucks an hour too.
Ive notice I can list a few active resumes and profiles on careerbuilder. It seems listing my salary gets views, but no responses, guessing its too high? I thought I would key in a number ten thousand less and see if I get any hits. If I do and it comes to salary time Ill just whip out the notice of my raise, bonus mentioned in the previous post and say the ten thousand dollar different was a type o.

Thaniks. I spend abou 5 hours a day registering with various companies in and surrounding and applying for desk jobs. Customer service as well as QA.
I called BOA about a reference or reference letter, certificates, etc. They said anything with BOA name on it was there property and they had the right to recycle it. They do not give references, but I was more than welcome to hunt down my manager and get a personal reference on his behalf. In regards to needing a manager and phone number to verify employment, they dont do that. There is an employment verification number that just verifies I worked there and the date range.
Good news we have joined and friended each other on face book and only communicate by messages through the site. A few people are being offered other jobs at BOA, but they say they are declining them. Seems all but 3 people are happy with a break and to ride out there severance.
I see the car dealers are looking for internet sales people. Ive sold banking products over the phone, how hard can it be? I am also seeing a few former employers and seeing if they have anything, advice or names of businesses and contacts within.
