The best milage I have to date is 72.6
Thats heavy Manual Hypermiling and pissing off the entire Highway.
Now for some real world driving with out being "Hypermile Insane"
This is my best Mileage driving some what like a human being:
This was a 23.1 mile trip from Coral Springs to Downtown Ft. Lauderdale. Mixed Highyway and City Driving with the AC on full blast in 90 degree heat.
EcoAssist was on & I coasted as much as I could. I never exceeded 55MPH.
My average for this trip was 64.9MPG
I ticked 65MPG but the 2 seconds it took to get my iPhone out it dropped!
On the other end of the spectrum I drove with the EcoAssist off and drove the car how ever the hell I felt like it. 90+ on the Highways, windows down, AC full blast, slamming on brakes, etc... Worst Milage to date: 34.2MPG
By the way, I hate this car and plan on turning it in when the 3 year lease is up. I'm going to write a full review in the appropriate section of the forum since this is strictly MPG.
Nice job with the MPGs! After reading your review, I suggest you try out the new Fusion Hybrid or the new Lexus HS250h -they may better meet your expectations.

My friend test drove the GTI and absolutely loved the experience (I was in the passenger seat holding on for dear life). He's looked closely at the TDI, too. However, he couldn't bring himself to look past the poor reliability ratings VW has had for the past decade. After paying out the nose for simple repairs on my GM Swedishmobile I decided to go with Honda.

Why wait??? 3 years is a looooooonnnnng time to hate; better to 'bite the bullet' now while the car is worth something....
BTW: You may want to read up on the TDI first, including NHTSA recalls, and also, perhaps rent one for the weekend to discover its pitfalls, etc.

Is the MPG reading on the screen a measure of that entire journey?
Or a measurement since the cpu was reset?
Or just an instaeous mpg for that moment?
thanks...
The number at the top is your average MPG since the last time you manually reset it. It's tied to the trip odometer, and you have two instances you can save to. (Trip A,Trip B)
The bar graph shows instant fuel economy.
You can also configure the MID to reset Trip A when you completely refuel your tank.
I suspect the 72mpg reading was a short trip as the trip shows the over all miles traveled vs since that last reset. I can peak 77mpg going 35mph with no ac, but only travel 9 miles at that speed.
The 64.9 was after 24 miles.
