Default My best fuel economy so far (56.1) (62.0 one way)

Well, driving on the bars, I got my best fuel economy so far.

63.3 was the highest I saw before coming off of the freeway.

Managed 62.7 when I stopped at the gas station (unnecessarily) to fill up.

Finally rating for the trip at home, after a lot of starting/stopping to get back on the freeway and then off again.

Basically, I had 4 ~40 mile trips. For 3 of them, I averaged about 60 mph and saw fuel economy in the mid 50s.

For my last trip(pictured), I literally drove the bars. There was a ton of traffic for the first five miles, but I left a huge gap in front of me and held a constant speed. I only had to come to a full stop twice (and plenty of people were coming to full stops quite frequently, yay for the masses)

I gave slightly more than maintenance throttle on every downhill section that I saw, and slightly less than maintenance throttle going up. I did draft a few semis and SUVs/minivans when possible.

Overall, I'm really happy with how the car did. I don't think I could keep this up though, especially not with my girlfriend coming home. (Now I've got a reason to drive fast again, since she'll be at the house. )

Anyways, that tank filled up at 182.7 miles and took 3.258 gallons which translates to 56.077 MPG. I suspect I could get a tank average over 60 if I was very careful.

You got me beat for hwy driving with cruse no ac at 56mph. Best I can do at 56mph is 61.7mpg on the screen.

Now on the back roads I can peak 74mpg, but thats doing 35 with cruse and no ac. Its only for 9 miles, then the remainer is 45mph for 7 miles, then 56mph for 23 or so miles.

On the flip side I can do 75mph with ac and get no less than 44mpg at the tank. Best tank fill up is 49.9 mpg.

I should mention the technical side of mine:

front tires 34 psi cold, rears 32.

Cruise control was not used. (I don't trust cruise control, and it's impossible to use with grades, which my route has TONS of)

Econ mode was on, as evidenced in the photos.

I'll have to try 75 with AC. I typically do 70-75 @ 47-48mpg, sporadic A/C. (turn it on for a minute or two every time it gets unbearable, usually about 3 or 4 times on the 40mile commute)

Thumbs up Good job!

I've been able to get almost the same several times in my routine driving.

My morning commute from my driveway to my parking spot at work is ~30 miles. When the weather is mild and I can drive very smoothly I will often arrive at work with a tripmeter reading of 61-62 mpg.

What is amazing about this is that I can do it with driving the speed limit (65 for a good portion) and using my cruise control and a/c. Those factors alone show that I'm not really hyper-miling, just driving the car normally.

My evening commute is much different. Traffic is very heavy and you are forced to floor it to merge onto the freeway or trucks will refuse to yield and just run you off the road. It's also usually hot as hell so I need to run the a/c a lot to cool down the car.

By the time I get home, my tripmeter mpg is showing 55-56 mpg for the day.

Overall, this car is a good performer. One has to get used to driving it, but I find that it is a good compromise of responsiveness, drivability, and fuel economy.
