A funny thing happened....

Hi All,

I've been slightly depressed this last couple of weeks. From my last fill up, the MID's been telling me I wasn't getting as good a MPG as usual. I normally start off around 46 and work up to 49. This tank started in the low 40's and only slowly, very slowly, crawled up to 47 when I filled up. The funny thing is, the calculated number for this tank was 56.3! (394.6 miles, 7.007G) That's about 10 MPG over my personal best.

I'd been really working on being light-footed, but that was a shock. I've only once had the MID under estimate by 2 MPG.

What I find odd is since I only needed 7 gallons to fill the tank, why was the MID telling me my range was only 40 miles? It was really off this time. I'd rather it be way under than the alternative, but that seems excessive.

Anyone else had numbers that far off?

Yeah, my numbers are all over the place too. Then driving styles sometimes does not effect fuel economy the way you think.

I filled up about 15 miles after the low fuel light came on and needed 9.5 gallons.
