Well we have had the Insight for abut 6 weeks I guess.
I had it for a couple of days at the beginning, because my wife's mother was passing on and she was staying with her father.
Anyway, I set the high mark of 53.3 mpg about the third day.
This was a good thing because it gave my wife a pschological edge in trying to maintain a high mark instead of forcing it, or giving up.
SHE LOVES THIS CAR. I mean LOVES.
And even with her strange shortcuts, bad driving habits and a 4 miles to work
commute w/ 1 mile trips between schools during the day, she has managed to average 44 mpg. Not bad.
She even learned a trick from me, which is, I use the paddle downshift to get some acceleration without moving my foot at all.
All the mod cons and toys and stuff make a fun ride, and I am glad she is happy.
I am also glad I don't have to watch her beating up the 97 Civic I got her in 2000 anymore. That was a great car, but she didn't like it because I paid for it . LOL !
On a side note, my 98 Civic ( Which I bought at the same time as the 97)
got rear ended by a Ford Explorer on the highway, and is trashed.
That sucks because I just had decided I was going to keep it ( felt really fast after the Insight, and got 33-40 mpg ) I really liked that car. And having had it for 9 years I knew its story. Good part is I was unhurt. bye bye fun car.
I just went out and got a 2001 Civic EX. Supposedly the worst Honda ever.
But the price was right and it is not rusty and all the toys work.
I am praying that it will be as good as the 98 but I know better.
Its a nice drive tho'.
Bottom line, at 1000 miles the Insight is still making us smile.
