Using this kind of pack could be a good idea. I was looking how to run a block heater where there is no power outlet. But the recommended storage minimum temperature is 32F. As this is intended to be used in winter time, the temperature will often be lower than that. Any input on how the pack would react to low temperatures ?
I've used this cold before (-20 C) to jump start a marginal battery (and it was stored in that car), and many times between that and 0 C to do light powering of a laptop, cell phone, or large battery for walkie-talkies (these days I've switched over to small set of NiMH AA), it seemed fine but the battery life is reduced by 25-40%, if it does warm up you get some of it back.. The key is you can not expect full power from the battery, which is why I suggested the 600 version.
I got the block heater in, its rated at 400 watts. Its ac powered. I know driving a cold car has lower fuel economy fil it warms up, but using the heat makes it achieve less.

Wow 400 watts, that inverter on the 600 would just be okay for it, when I was doing this I was looking at 150 watt heaters..
On the other note of fuel economy, I've watched mine tank as well, I was averaging 4.7 L / 100 KM with the grill blocks in place (50 MPG US) on all drives > 5 minutes. I now get 5.6 L / 100 KM (42 MPG US) on any trip < 15 and at 20 minutes I'm getting closer to 5.0 L /100 KM (47 MPG US).
I notice some of it is cause I have the heat on more often and it doesn't stabilize inside until about 7 to 10 minutes into the drive.
I'd say to help stabilize the heat inside the car, as well as engine heat would be to use the recirculate button on the Climate Controls. It should take less heat from the engine to warm up the air in the cabin (which is warmer anyways) than continually warming up the air that outside.
Simple thermodynamics!

I'd say to help stabilize the heat inside the car, as well as engine heat would be to use the recirculate button on the Climate Controls. It should take less heat from the engine to warm up the air in the cabin (which is warmer anyways) than continually warming up the air that outside.

lol, grill blocks! been doing that too but when it's 30 F outside it wills till take several minutes to even bring it up to 60. Mind you it's a lot faster with the grill blocks.
I found in my scion xa with my scan guage it warmmed up faster using outside vs inside as it was sucking heater dry air from the rear of the hood at the bottom of the windshield vs the cold humid air inside hte car.

I just been turning the A/C off until the car heats up, then heat the car and recycle air as not to suck in air form the outside. I'll need to see if it makes that much difference.
