Man, this is so cool. Today is the 25th and I last filled up on the 20th. I usually have to fill the tank in my previous car every 3 or 4 days. With this new Insight even after driving for 5 days, I still have just over 1/2 tank left, and that's with driving in horrible stop and go traffic with maybe 10% highway driving.
This new Insight is so awesome. I can only imagine how much fun the people with the old Honda Insights are having.
I am averaging about 41 MPG (just what the EPA states.)
With my past late model, 2.2L 4-cylinder car, I was calculating about 17 MPG between fill-ups. The stop and go traffic absolutely killed the MPG in the previous car. This is why I bugged my wife for the longest time about wanting to buy an Insight.
I have almost 700 miles on the car now. I hope the MPG will go up a little bit if I can break the car in.

sounds like you made the right choice.. the MPG does go up some after the initial breakin.. i know mine did.. i have 8K on mine now and still going great.. the winter gas took some of my MPG away but still doing way better then my 18MPG jeep..

We don't have winters where I live, so I won't have an issue there. The coldest it usually gets here is 50-60 for a very brief time.
I just wish I could put more highway miles to get even better MPG.
I can only imagine how much fun the people with the old Honda Insights are having.
Yep. In the summers when I was commuting 68 miles a day I would fill up mine about once a month. The 10.8 gallon tank would sometimes go >1000 miles. Stopping to buy gas for it is a Special Occasion, get to check whether the car's display agrees with the pump numbers (usually very close for the Insight-I).

How the hell can you go 1000+ miles on a tank of gas?!?!?!?!?!
This is the 2nd gen forum, not the 1st gen. In 2006 I wanted to buy the 1st gen like yours but my wife kept complaining about it. I would be thrilled to even get 800 miles per tank. Lucky you.
Excellent MPG compared to most other gasoline cars out there either way, a relatively small handful of cars get 40mpg or higher on a regular basis, just remember everyone else is using roughly twice the gas on average, even moreso with larger vehicles such as SUVs.
