My MID normally says 44-47 MPG between tanks. I put 1-1/2 ounces of that Amsoil 2-cycle oil in my gas tank like that Magic Mechanic in Orlando said and so far the MID is saying 41 MPG. So in reality, now I may be getting only 37 MPG. I didn't hear the entire show and don't know if that only works for low compression engines, old cars or cars that use 93 octane. Since our engines have a 13:1 compression the way many high performance racing engines do and the mix of 87 octane, maybe that has something to do with it. I'll have to see if my mileage goes up when I change my 0w20 oil and see if that helps. It would be nice if everybody stated their current mileage along with their tank of gas.
I think I will try 89 octane during my next tank.
I've been using Hess gas.
Why are you adding a 2 cycle additive to the fuel? The Insight is designed for regular fuel only, should not have to use premium! And the compression ratio is 10.8 to 1, not 13:1 as you state. Why mess with perfection.

Somewhere I read that it was 13:1. That's much better if it's 10.8:1 because 87 octane would kill that.
You obviously have not heard the Magic Mechanic show in Orlando.
Well, when I started this thread, I did not even have a Insight, I do now. It's been almost two weeks since my new ride made it home. They say they filled the tank, yeah right! I ended up with 361 miles on the first tank. I definitely filled it today, we will see what she brings in the coming weeks.

Yeah, mine was almost 400. Are you in a lot of stop and go traffic?
Id get about 500 before the low fuel light comes on. Since Ive been only buying half a tank or a few gallons. Now with the colder weather and weekly threat of storms, I top it off.

Man, you must be doing a ton of highway driving.
If I was back living in the sticks, I bet I could be doing that. But then I'd be racking up crazy miles on my car. I'd rather be in the city with having everything close by.
I've only purchased four tanks of gasoline so far but my total mileage on the last two tanks has been 495 and 491, respectively. That's for city driving and I'm hoping to break that magic 500 miles per tank barrier when I do more highway driving this summer. Right now, my speed seldom gets above 50 mph unless I venture onto the interstate for a short time.
my tops that i was keeping record was 494 and i still had some in the tank.. i chickened out and went ahead and stopped to fill up.. where i live its not wise to run out of gas.. the gas stations are sometimes 4-5 miles apart.. so i filled up and when i did the calculations.. it was 52.3 mpg.. so i think i did pretty good.. this was last year before winter.. winter kept my insight asleep.. but now that its warmer.. it has been driven a few times already and doing great..
