Oh well, honda is pocketing the difference. We know this this is right out of their MSRP, but it's true for all cars not just Honda. If they start selling the nano (the really small sub 5K car in India) here that would be a fun day for everyone.
My best tank so far has been 449.7 miles, and I've broken 400, 6 times (one tank was really close by 397.7). The most gas I've used up was 9.9926 US Gallons, I was nervous I would run out of gas and finally pulled off the highway and looking at it, it was darn close to running out!

I would have bought another car. That's way too much money to be spending on a car to save you money. I would have bought a used car instead. For $30k I could buy a TON of nice cars here in the US. I wouldn't have dreamed of spending that kind of money on a sub-compact Insight.
As I said driving a "Green" car in Canada is not value for the money, true value would have been a Fit, or Yaris, however, I was set on buying a hybrid and Toyota (before the recall, and after) was just not impressing me, the dealers were not impressing me.
However, my list of requirements (safety and mileage) were high, and the Insight met all of them, and really i could have gotten a new low end BMW for that price. I'm not sure about a TON, but at least 1.5 nice car..

July 19th 2010 : 622.7miles with one tank (this is 1002.6Km... looks great on the MID )
Could have gone over 630. I fueled 9.778gal. I could have pushed further. I'm not good at the chicken game...
Current setup :
Running Shell V-Power (I think that's the factor giving be the little extra right now)
Running Mobil 1 0w20
Tires at 48psi
K&N filter (don't think it changes anything mpg wise...but) 623miles.jpg 1002km-clean.jpg
Looks like it's time to trade my Insight in. The money I'm saving isn't enough to justify anything. I can only get close 50 MPG on the highway when doing no more than 60. Too much effort has to be done for me to make any noticeable savings. I need to go back to having some kind of fast sports car and not worry about saving $40-50/mo. on fuel.
Looks great! What stretch were you doing this time?
No specific stretch this time. It was done over several days, commute to work and other. I would say about 90% highway driving. Temperature was pretty much always in the 80s and wind very mild for the 2.5 weeks accumulating miles.
Wow! 500 miles, 600 miles? You guys are lucky! I can barely get 400 miles in one tank. My fuel light comes on around 360-370 and the MID shows 42-43 but in reality when I fill it up to around 9.2 gallons, that means its only around 40mpg. My commute is 20 miles 1 way, I can say 75% freeway and 25% side streets. I'm in the Inland Empire area here in SoCal. I've tried driving slower, faster, tried to be light on the pedal but really can't reach 400 miles on one tank. Could there be something wrong with my car? Or is it just because of the roads that I drive on? It can't be that because I'm not driving on any hills that could really make a huge effect. Any tips?
