Default 2001 Insight Performance Chips??

I'm thinking about buying these performance chips for my car. How do these chips work? Am I going to see a big difference in HP change? What's the difference between this and the ones they sell on ebay?

Thanks for your help

This will likely do the same thing as the rest of the 'performance products' on the site, such as the fuel line magnet, 'air intake booster' spiral, and "Electric Supercharger".

I wouldn't expect it to do anything positive.

I'm not sure this isn't just a spam question to publicise the link?

Waste of money (at best). These type of things are usually nothing more than a resistor in line with the air-intake sensor. It spoofs the ECU into making the mixture richer, but only for a while. The ECU adjusts trim levels based on what the O2 sensors give as feed back. Over time the ECU will 'adjust' to the new readings negating the added device.

The ONLY kind of device that would make a difference is one that could reset the trim table stored in the ECU itself. That would be assuming the ECU supports modifications.

Honda did an enormous amount of engineering to get 68 HP out of your little 1L engine. If these chips actually worked, they would have built the technology in.

You can improve HP by removing MPG or vice-versa, but not by much.

If you want to get a real Insight performance product, get a MIMA. By manually controlling the motor, you can chirp the tires or you can add 10 mpg to your trip.

mike2009yahoo, your car has a built-in performance chip already.

To enable the chip, press the ECON button until the green leaf icon on the gauge cluster goes away. Then, move shifter to S and drive.

Ok, I had joked enough, but above works.

P.S. I was talking about 2010+ Insight since your post is under "2nd Gen Insight." Or am I missed on the "2001 2nd Gen" insight?

I'm with retepsnikrep on mike2009yahoo being spamboy. The ebay items crack me up seeing as how they work on the 2007, 2008 and 2009 models too.
