Default 2013 UK Insight Owners Day

2013 UK Insight Owners Day

This is just a place holder at present for ideas for the 2013 event and to facilitate discussion of the format etc.
I'm not offering to organise the 2013 event, i'm just posting this to promote discussion.

Here's last years link.

2012 UK Insight Owners Day

Glossop was great and I have no objection to doing that again just as it was.
However I recently attended the Low Carbon & EV show at Millbrook near Bedford (Nice and central)

Cenex LCV2012 ? Low Carbon Vehicle Event, 5 & 6 September 2012, Millbrook

UK Low carbon vehicle event 2012

It was excellent and there was a very nice quiet place to stay in a village a few miles down the road.

the knife and cleaver bedford pub and guest house

We could perhaps negotiate a group discount at the pub.

The event itself had lots of indoor and outdoor exhibits and lectures you could attend which would keep us occupied as interested visitors (free entry) for at least a day. Picnic lunch on the grass at the track and back to the pub later for meal and quaffing!

I'm sure we could arrange group parking and perhaps we could even attend as exhibitors in our own right which would put the cat among the OEM pigeons as Honda was not represented this year but Toyota was.

Paul Andrews was an exhibitor but not in his Rally Insight.
You get to drive some of the display cars on trips round the banked circuit, and it was a hot lovely day

Or we could be even more daring how about a 3-7 day trip to Northern France, Normandy etc, in May taking in a few battlefield sites, other historic places, vineyards etc, staying as a group in the Campinale Hotels and enjoying the open uncluttered roads and gently rolling countryside of Northern France, ideal for our cars and high mpg! Perhaps some European owners might tag along as well? Over in convoy via tunnel or cheap ferry.

Anyway food for thought. Peter

If anyone wants to volunteer to PM or e-mail anyone who expressed an interest in the last two years gatherings or other UK/EU members then we might get some serious interest.

As the admin I have been looking through the IC membership user list. I have a txt file containing all the users who put the locations, UK, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, or Europe when registering. The list also contains the e-mail address and last activity date/time.

Perhaps someone in UK wants to volunteer to got through it and the threads mentioned and e-mail or PM all those who have been active on the site in the last 12 months and have at least 5 posts to give them the heads up.

Hi Peter,
I would be happy to e-mail the other UK forum users. Not sure how to download a txt file or what info you need to transfer it to my computer so a few instructions would be needed.
regards
David

David

Thanks for the offer

Please read through the 2011 and 2012 threads and make a note/list of everyones username for a start. Post it here.

The we can corelate it with the UK members e-mail list I have and we can then PM/E-Mail everyone in a weeks or so to flag this thread up. Everone can add names of people owners that have slipped through mine or your lists.

Peter

I agree. What do people fancy doing?

With a little luck the weather for the summer of 2013 will be a little kinder.

Hmm Le-Mans.
I don't do camping though. When is it, where were you thinking of staying etc.

Isle of Wight doesn't have very many good driving roads and gets very crowded in summer.

That's Le Mans out then!!!!!

Tour of wales, from for example the Severn bridge, around the coastline & then back down through the mountains? Looking at about 600 miles or so driving over say 3 days?

I am not a camping fan either. How about sticking with Glossop PLUS the more adventurous of us doing a Northern Europe tour, perhaps meeting up with Insight owners in Germany and Sweden etc?
