Hi All:

___I think some are getting ahead of themselves here. What if it costs $30K? Whoops. Maybe a few thousand might be purchased but not enough to be profitable … again.

___Honda Motor Corporation, if it is a hybrid, please give it a pure albeit short EV mode for stop and go rubber banding traffic jams, clean up the aerodynamics ala Daihatsu UFE - II, use a newly designed 1.0 L iCDTi and if you do go Hybrid, give it a strong pack and MG Set worthy of the Insight II.

___Good Luck

"What if it costs $30K?"

What if? If I remember prices, that's still less than a third of a new Hummer, half to a quarter of a BMW, Mercedes, or Porsche...

There are lots of reasons I (and I imagine most of us here) choose to drive Insights, but purchase price isn't anywhere close to being one of them

Hi James:

___The $10K I spent on mine was the reason I purchased it. At $20K, it wouldn’t have been a 15 second thought. At $30K, the thought would be even shorter.

___I guess I am one of the few that look at the Insight’s TCO instead of whatever else everyone else considers possibly?

___Good Luck

Hi xcel-

You are right, cost is very important to most of us and I admire your analysis of the total cost of operation. I am sure it was more thorough than whatever most of the rest of us consider. But you also seem to enjoy your videogame. In retrospect don’t tell me that is not worth something too.

I think (hope?) Honda would realize that they would sell nearly none if they cost more than the current model. I just wonder what an "improved" Insight would be like for the same price.

More plastic bits and using the 4 cylinder IMA package, maybe some carbonfiber thrown in for furthur weight reduction.

The S2000 sells for a lot more. I think if the car was "cool" enough people would be willing to pay more. The IMAS is very cool and has the 4 seat thing going for it. I'm sure Honda has done some good marketing research.

From what I know already the IMAS weighs less at 700kg (against 850), has a more powerful IMA pack/motor and has a CD co-efficient of 0.20.

I am going to the NEC Motorshow in the UK on 28th of May, where the IMAS will be on show. I intend to interrogate the Honda staff on specifications, price and production. I'll let you guys know when I get back!

Do you think you could buy the prototype if we all pitched in to give you a suitcase of cash?

We could drive it on a timeshare basis.
