i read somewhere from one of the forum the engineer for honda stated that it was every important to keep the pistons rings clean. i have a '13 LX with 32,000 miles on the clock and i loss very little oil. i get some oil in my oil catch can that helps keep the intake clean and at 20,000 miles i used amsoil engine flush just to make sure the inside of the engine was clean and when i hit 40K miles will do it again. the oil it uses is Mobile 1 extended performance and honda oil filter
if you do not mind trying this at your next oil change can you do an "engine flush" and see what comes out and track if it help or not. it might what do you have to lose?
i can tell you know some stuff about engine since you stated that you do all the MX yourself.
just like i do. and i know people call oil additives as "snake oil" and only suckers will buy them.
i am one of the suckers i guess, i believe is some of the oil additive well from only from a few companies
