I have installed a grid charger harness on both IMA batteries and charge them occasionally. I bought the charger from Peter Perkins from the Insight forum and find it helps condition the battery and keep them topped up when the cars are not always driven. I would recommend you buy a grid charger as keeping the IMA battery in optimum condition avoids the Achilles heel of the first gen Insight. Let me know if you are interested - I live in Essex. Best, Tim.
Hi there - sorry for the delay - I do not log in very often to view the Insight website and hence missed your message Old Rascal. I have 2 Insight's that I personally imported from Japan and I am interested in selling one of them (Space and usage issues). They both function as they should and have traveled around 140000 km's - about 90000 miles. One is red and the other is blue in colour. They both have the CVT transmission which I find to be excellent and still able to return 70 MPG on a run. The blue one I would say is in a better physical condition than the red one body wise. I think I would be looking for 2800 for the red Insight and 3800 for the blue.
