I have a CVT 2001 insight with 174K miles. I just overhauled the battery. All sticks have >6.0AH with the super brain 989. Now I get all the assist I ever need. Here is the problem. If I let off on the gas and start braking right away I get very aggressive regen. About 75% of the scale. I think the battery is forced over 175V. I some times get blink code 74 (voltage deviation) Will a battery over 175V start the code? Even after a charge with the grid charger it does the same. It will not occure if I wait a brief 2 seconds before the braking. I have the original BCM. Would it be worth trying a later BCM? I got the car in March this year and put a rebuilt CVT in it. The above problem is the only remaining fault. It drives like a new car. I love the gas savings.

Thank you for your tips on my IMA repair. Plese send steps on finding what is wrong with my system. I get P1440 and P1449. The voltage of the IMA battery is fairly balanced. The car goes thru spells of not wanting to start on the IMA system. It just turns the engine 30-90 degrees and stops. Other times it starts normal.

Hi H-B-R! From what I can tell you repair IMA batteries also? Then you also have a MIMA? I have a 2001 CVT with 295,000 miles and a large oil leak. I stopped at Napa this morning and they found my Oil sending unit was spurting out oil. After they added 3 quarts of 5W30 I went on my way to work. I am not very mechanically inclined bit I would like my Insight to keep on rolling until my daughter gets done with college.

Hi, I am newbie here and nedd to educate myself a bit. I have 200 Insight that has been sitting in my garage - post accident - for a good while. I would like to get a charge on the battery pack without starting the car. I am seeing talk here about a "grid charger". Will this allow me to do what I want? Is it something I can assemble myself or do I purchase it outright? Thanks! I live in CT.
