How's that mileage doing? Whacky warm spring is making things happen pretty early. Don't know if you caught my announcement - I bought a blue '05 MT with 18K miles on it a week or so ago, and I'm thrilled! What a difference - the old one needs some work. Now that I know what it should be able to do, I can feel that the lean burn of my '00 is totally whacked. I hope to get that straightened out, before I put it on the market. I'm sneaking pretty close to 70 mpg out of the new one now!
I bought my Insight in Bar Harbor! A grad student had just moved up from MA, decided he and his wife only needed one car and the other car (a Prius) was more practical to keep as only car. It had 165K on it, and illuminated ck eng and IMA lights, so I got a wicked good deal, as they say. Ck eng light was fixed with free recall, IMA has not come back on yet after reset, though I expect it at any moment. It would be well worth having the battery rebuilt, if that is what it comes to!
Hey Steve - I almost missed your message. Barely noticed the little number up in the top right corner.
I'm a little ways north of Portland. I did get the little silver widget (also 2000, 165K miles), and am enjoying the heck out of it. There is another that lives barely a mile from me, another silver one. I haven't yet introduced myself, and they would likely not have noticed mine, as it gets garaged.
As you say, the weather and roads are not conducive to much in the way of hypermiling these days. It was depressing, purchasing it in October and watching my mpg sink despite improved driving skills. I'm barely holding at 50 mpg these days, especially if I do any short trips.
