The weather has had a profound affect on my gas mileage. Before, I would have occasional 20mile spurts where I could average 70mpg, but with the recent wondrous weather, I've averaged 70 miles per gallon for my last entire tank of gas. It feels pretty good to see the mileage boosts. I also believe sometimes that my 2k may be a little wacky, but I have no experience in anything else to know for sure. My warranty runs out on the 26th of this month, and I'm leaving for a nine day trip on Friday (I'm not actually driving) So there is practically no chance of my battery breaking and then me fixing it under warranty. =( haha.
Yes, this is my first winter. I just recently purchased the car late into November so I've really only driven it in the cold. It is quite different from my 97' cavalier which has hardly any options and gets 33 mpgs. It seems to not turn quite as sharp, and it surely floats around on the snow more.
But, she's beautiful, has just 73k miles, and so far so good, no check engine lights, or ima lights. I love it.
I can't wait to have it warm up I feel confident in being able to get 70 once the temperature is consistently above 55 degrees.
I have yet to see any other insights in the area myself, but my friend Becca has seen two. One, even farther north than myself in Howland. And she sent me a picture of another one (silver) accompanied with the message, "Are you in bangor right now?" I can't wait to have a random encounter of my own. Hopefully with another owner.
Where did you purchase yours? I drove to Newton, Mass to get mine.
Hey velo! Where about in Maine are you? I'm in the greater Bangor area and it would be cool to chat with someone about the less than ideal Maine temperatures and roadways! I have a silver 2000 insight, Did you end up purchasing an insight yourself?
