Exactly my situation. Either me or a passenger get out to get the mail at my apartment complex, but don't often buckle up for the 100 yards to the garage. Thankfully it's timed perfectly so that it doesn't start chiming until I get to within a few feet of home Not a big enough deal for me to try to circumvent it, but if it was a simple option in the MID, I would probably disable it...

Other than that one exception, I don't shift the car out of "Park" until I and everyone else in my car is buckled up. Seatbelts and airbags have literally saved my life, not once, but twice.

Anyone out on the open road willfully not wearing one is an idiot - and I told my little sister as much just the other day when she thought it was cool to fly under the radar and not put on her seatbelt in my parents car :-/

As a side note, on my last vehicle, I had Best Buy install an Alpine head unit in my truck that was bought with only an AM/FM receiver. Apparently they either forgot something or didn't do it all correctly, because an unexpected but welcome change was that the audible chimes no longer worked

Yeah, you got to wear a seat belt to ride with me. Otherwise you got to get out.

Default 2011 insight beep beep beep

Soon after buying my 2011 insight (base model) i took it back and asked the service department to remove the seatbelt chime they informed they could not and suggested that i may look on the web to find the answer. (The dodge dealer did remove the chime on my truck). So far no luck with insight. If someone knows an easy fix please inform us.

The only way, without serous modifications, is to use a belt buckle from a junkyard or buy one online. Amazon sells them. I bought one a while back for 5 bucks; for passengers who give me a hard time. You can stretch the seatbelt around the back and buckle it as well but it's a PITA when you want to use your seat belt.

So you're adult enough to make a seat belt decision, but not man enough to hear the concerns of someone who may purchase the car after you disable the safety system?

Well, the chime is located within the gauge control module. So take your unloaded gun and fire it at the speedometer and that should do the trick.

Seriously, the wiring for each seatbelt signal is on the inboard buckle. It is a single wire circuit and a closed switch signals the safety system that is unbuckled. Find magic wire, don't let it find a ground, and you will successfully make your dog happy at the expense of countless god fearing American humans who had faith in you keeping the car legally safe for generations to come.

That's true, you can always open the connection so the inboard buckle thinks the other end is plugged in. Come to think of it, I actually did that on a truck for a guy I used to work for. In that particular case, the seat belt inboard buckle went bad and wouldn't stop chiming; even when wearing the seat belt. The boss didn't want to spend the money for the part or pay a mechanic; so I just cut the wires.

That being said, it's easier and more easily reverseable to just use a spare buckle.

I think this thread has run its course. You could use a dummy buckle or splice the wires together. I do not believe we have a switch, internal setting, etc.
