Default Best way to disable seatbelt chime?

Besides the obvious of wearing your seat belt(which I always do) what is the best way to disable the seat belt chime? I have certain passengers who refuse to wear their seat belt and the chime drives me nuts. I don't want to buy a seat belt extension or get a buckle from a junkyard. Right now I make them sit on top of the belt buckled beneath them. Is there a fuse I can unplug?

Did you know that after driving without the passenger belt buckeled it disabled the passenger side air bag? Cheating the system can cause the air bag to kill the passenger as its designed with the person fastened to the seat.

Actually that is not correct. The only time the passenger airbag is disabled is if the weight detected is under ~60lbs. In the US, airbags are required to provide protection to unbelted passengers as well, and the airbag will compensate by firing sooner with increased intensity. Of course this isn't ideal, but apparently its an improvement over hitting the dash and/or going through the windshield.

Having your passenger not wearing a seatbelt is obviously dangerous for him, but could be dangerous for you as well, with the passenger becoming a projectile inside the car.

Last time I had a passenger who refused a seat belt it started to beep. After a minute plus or minus a few seconds I heard a long beep after a lot of short fast beeps and the passenger side air bag showed it was disabled.

+1 I have a big n tall friend who rather sit back there and move the seat all the way forward for more leg room.

Don't drive the car until he/she puts his/her belt on.
If you get into a bad accident, their body becomes a projectile and YOU will be injured because of their body flying around uncontrollably.

firsthonda : Besides the obvious of wearing your seat belt(which I always do) what is the best way to disable the seat belt chime?

I too would love to know the "right" answer to this, and have found every forum on the net full of nannies whining that naughty naughty, we aught not do that. But, to actually answer the question (if with a suboptimal - though free, effective, and easily reversible - solution):

Just pull the belt around the back of the seat and buckle it into in its normal spot.

Voila, happy car, happy driver/passenger.

Unfortunately, this solution won't work for my situation - I wear my seatbelt while on the road, but every day after work I stop to get my mail at the end of a long driveway. Doing so requires that I unbuckle to reach into the box, and then the bleepin' thing yells at me the entire way down my driveway.

What you said and using either a seat belt extension or a Honda Buckle from a junkyard is the simplest/best way.
